·     Mankind has diverged from God and people follow their own desires

·     God showed us how to live, but mankind was unable to follow the lifestyle set out in the Law

·     God will make a new Covenant in the Latter Days, based on Obedience to His life-style through love

·     Romans points out that we can be reconciled to God either through forgiveness of our sins, or obedience through God’s Power

·     Jesus had to come to pave the way for reconciliation of mankind with God

·     Let us look beyond the baby at Christmas to the returning King, and seek to be ready for His Glory to be shown to the World again

Hymn 118 (Tune 115):  Tried and Proved

·     God showed a blue-print for Church organisation when Moses set up a governance structure for the Israelites in the Wilderness

·     Paul gave guidelines for New Testament Churches in his Pastoral Epistles – 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus

·     Titus was written about the same time a 1 Timothy and lot of information is a cut-and-paste between them

·     Paul emphasises the need for appointing good leaders, stopping the gossip, ensuring that the truth is taught and the need to maintain good works 

·     Whilst these principles apply to the Church as a whole, each of us should seek to apply them in ruling over our own temples – our own lives – as we await the glorious appearing of Jesus Christ .

Hymn 12 (Tune 13):  Jesus the Man
·     The first 2 chapters of Colossians presents doctrine about the pre-eminence of Christ, whilst the chapters 3 and 4 present practical aspects of the Christian life
·     Christian Israelites understand that Christ is the Heavenly Father of this creation, and that Jesus is the (physically) begotten Son of the Father
·     It was Christ (the Spirit of God) that did the works in Jesus when he was in his mortal life, and then at His resurrection, God’s Spirit entered into Jesus and became the source of His life – making him fully Jesus Christ
·     Paul says Jesus was the firstborn of many brethren, and hence His life shows an example of what God has promised to do in a special people in the Last Days in preparation for Jesus Christ’s return
·     God’s Plan encompasses restoration and redemption of all in the fulness of time.

·     A lot of doctrinal instructions in the New Testament came from what was expected in the Old Testament

·     Those who love God will seek to show their love by living a life in accordance with these principles, and by keeping His commandments
·     We believe we are in the times when we can hold the hope of His appearing as something that could be fulfilled within our lifetime.

·     In chapter 2 Paul addresses Teachers, Soldiers, Husbandmen and all Support Workers exhorting them to work together in supporting the message
·     In this life there will always be opposition experienced by those who chose to follow God
·     There is a great importance in supporting and helping each other as we establish our personal faith
·     We live in the time when we may be delivered from the prison of death to receive fulness of life not only spiritually in the world to come, but physically at the return of Jesus Christ.

·     Philippians is about being confident, encouraging each other in unity, and rejoicing in God’s promises.  

·     We show the fruits of what we choose to sow.

·     The promise of Salvation we have in Christ gives us confidence to live a good life in this world.

·     We can press towards the “high calling” and have “vile body… fashioned like unto his glorious body” at His return.
