·        God wanted a group to show that the lifestyle He recommended was superior to that which people would choose themselves

·        God chose Israel to be His special people, and entered into a Covenant of life, based on obedience

·        God’s Israel of old did not obey His instructions, and as a result did not receive the blessings promised to them

·        God’s promises are still true, and His people (Israel) are still those who show their love to Him through obeying His commandments

·        Obedience will prove who are Israel and who are not; following God’s recommended Lifestyle will prepare a people to be wholly preserved and changed from mortal to immortal beings at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
