Hymn 40 – Tune 34: The
Tried Corner Stone
·
When
Eve was first tempted to sin she saw that
it was good for food, pleasant to the eyes and to be desired
to make one wise
·
The
areas in which Jesus was tempted were to satisfy hunger, to try God’s
Word to be true, and to be seen as being great by others
·
In
1 John chapter 2 John points out that we are called to face these same
temptations which he describes as the lust of the flesh,
and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life
·
God
is Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent - and in all areas is able to bring us through any
temptations that we are called to face
·
Let
us look to be led by the Spirit so that our desire to follow God will
over-ride our attraction to fall for the tempter’s allurement
·
In Deuteronomy 11:12 God says He will be with
us from the beginning of the year even unto the
end of the year – and will lead us into
the Promised Land – the life of spirit and soul and body at Jesus Christ’s
return.
