Hymn 8:  A New Earth

·        Each New Year we look to see what we can learn from the past to make the future better

·        God has said He will “make all things new”

·        New things can come from replacement or from transformation

·        The hope of the resurrection is to receive a spiritual body as the angels (spirit and soul) which will replace the body we have now

·        Those alive when Jesus Christ returns can have the hope for their physical bodies to be transformed wholly in spirit and soul and body

·        If we have this hope we need to ask God to remove the evil from within us both spiritually and physically 

·        In God’s New Kingdom all will be happy with the life they receive

·        We remember Jesus First Coming at Christmas  

·        Scripture also contains promises of a Second coming associated with the End of the World

·        There are many signs that this time is approaching

·        There are also promises about an ingathering of a Remnant of the descendants of Israel prior to His return

·        One sign of the closeness of His return will be the call of God on people’s hearts to want to obey His commandments

·        Do you hear God calling you to come and follow Him?

·        Even the Authorities recognised Jesus’ fame in what He did

·        Jesus’ fame continues to be recognised in the lives of believers

·        Is He King in your life, or does your faith in God just run parallel to your everyday activities

·        Is His FAME demonstrated in your life today?

·        God does not need us – as He can put messages directly into people’s hearts and minds – but He gives us an opportunity to help!

·        Today there is still a Message to all “lost” people as well as a Message to The Lost Sheep of the House of Israel

·        The Lost Sheep will be identified through their willingness to follow God and obey His laws and commandments

·        Let us rejoice that God has a Plan to redeem all who are lost and to reconcile all to Himself through Jesus Christ

·        Thank God for the miracle of belief, and ask Him to prepare us to be ready to enter the New Kingdom, wholly, when Jesus Christ returns

Hymn 129:  The war against the Evil

·        Jesus outlined the Principles of a good lifestyle in The Sermon on the Mount, and then lived it out 

·        Years before Isaiah had suggested a similar lifestyle for God’s people to follow, but acknowledged it was hard to follow

·        God has promised help to those who seek to live this lifestyle

·        In thinking of others we end up benefiting ourselves

·        Let us ask God to renew our minds, and remove the evil from within us, so that we can be lights to show His Love to the World
