·                    Within Book 3 of Psalms – Psalms 73 to 89 – the themes of Leviticus are frequently referenced

·                    The instructions in Leviticus - given by God to Moses over a period of four to six weeks - detailed God’s worship requirements for Israel in the newly completed Tabernacle, including purification for the Priests

·                    Scripture makes it plain that in the Last Days there will be a people prepared who will be a Holy Priesthood to God and through them He will show His Power to the World (1 Peter 2:9)

·                    Do you feel drawn to this Calling – to present your life (wholly in spirit and soul and body) - to obey and follow God’s instructions?

The Lord’s Prayer  (Luke 11:2-4)

Psalm 106:1-5 – God’s Greatness

Presentation:  Insights from the Book of Psalms

Bible Readings:

Offerings of Thanksgiving to God:  1 Chronicles 16:1-36

Understanding God’s Word:  Nehemiah 8:1-12

The Scriptures Must be Fulfilled:  Luke 24:44-53

Summary of Readings

·                    The Bible has 66 Books, written by 40 authors over 1500 years

·                    Like the Bible, The Book of Psalms itself was written by many authors; it is thought to have been compiled by Ezra after the Captivity

·                    The Book of Psalms contains the middle chapter (Psalm 117) and middle verses (Psalm 103:1-2) of the Bible

·                    The Book provides insights into how people felt, especially after key Biblical events, and the Sections confirm a continuing relationship with God across changing societies and cultures

·                    The Psalms provide support, comfort and instruction for emotional needs in our relationship with God, and with other people

·                    The tools in Psalms show us how to cope with life’s issues, as we seek eventually “to dwell in the house of the Lord  forever” (Psalm 23) – either with a spiritual house in the resurrection, or a physical house should our spirit and soul and body become the temple of God at Jesus Christ’s return.

Hymn 59:  The Promised Universal Rest

The Lord’s Prayer  (Luke 11:2-4)

Psalm 49: 1-9 – God Will Redeem Us

Bible Readings

The Rich Man and the Beggar:  Luke 16:19-31

The Rich and the Poor:  Prov 13:6-7

Wisdom and Strength:  Eccles 9:13-18

Thy People Shall Be Delivered:  Daniel 12:1-13

They Lived and Reigned with Christ:  Rev 20:1-15

Summary of Readings

·                    Jesus told a parable that left no doubt that there will be a life here-after, and that our condition there depends on what happens here

·                    The parable refers to worldly possessions, but also shows that the spiritual intent of our hearts makes us poor or rich towards God

·                    Jesus gives some insights into what happens after we die, after the first resurrection, and at the end

·                    References from the Old and New Testaments explain that there will be a resurrection of the righteous when Jesus Christ returns, but unbelievers will suffer the second death and separation from God for a further thousand years

·                    However, there is also the hope to be delivered from (physical) death, and to be preserved in spirit and soul and body to put on immortality

·                    Do you believe the Words God has already given to instruct us, or like the Rich Man, are you continuing to want further proofs?

Hymn123:  God Works through His People

Message

·                    When God called Moses to bring His People out of Egypt, Moses seemed to have the idea that he had to do everything himself!

·                    Jethro turned up and explained to Moses that no one can do everything, and that the tasks should be shared amongst capable helpers – Team Members

·                    Paul explained this in the New Testament, using the analogy that we are all one body in Christ

·                    Each of us should try to identify the gift that God has given us, and also learn to recognise what others can contribute so we can complement each other

·                    Revelation tells us there will be 144,00 who will individually, but yet collectively, present their bodies a living sacrifice to God as they await the return of Jesus Christ to this earth.

Outline of Online Service 9th January 2022

Feed Me with Food Convenient for Me  Prov 30:9

The Lord’s Prayer  (Luke 11:2-4)

Psalm 86: 6-12 – A Great God

Bible Readings:

God Provides Food for Elijah:  1 Kings 19:1-8

Getting the Right Balance - Convenient Food:  Proverbs 30:5-9

Spiritual and Temporal Food:  John 6:25-51

Food for Life:  Revelation 10:1-11

Hymn 100:  Living Bread

·                    God provided some powerful food for Elijah to prepare him for a long journey

·                    Like Elijah each of us experiences ups and downs in our life, and in our relationship with God, but He has promised Daily Bread to sustain us

·                    This “special food” comes from the Power of God’s Spirit to do His work in us; but John in Revelation says sometimes it is contrary to our natural nature

·                    Jesus said that He is the Bread of Life – He can forgive sins, but in addition God has Power to remove the evil, which is the cause of sin within us

·                    As Elijah surrendered his life to God so may we offer ourselves in spirit and soul and body to Him, asking Him to feed us with “food convenient for us”.

Thy Law is Within My Heart - Jeremiah in the Well

Outline of Online Service 12th December 2021

Thy Law is Within My Heart  Psalm 40:8

Hymn 115:  The Good and the Bad

The Lord’s Prayer  (Luke 11:2-4)

Psalm 40:1-8 – God Will Deliver

Bible Readings:

Jeremiah in the Well:  Jeremiah 38:1-20, 24-28; 39:15-18

Zedekiah and Jeremiah:  2 Kings 24:17-20

Lifted from the Pit:  Matthew 12:9-14

A Sure Foundation:  Matthew 7:15-29

Hymn 26:  Joyous Peace Promised

·                     Jeremiah was persecuted for standing up for right; his own family turned against him even though he was a Prophet of the Lord – but he kept God’s Law in his heart

·                     He was delivered from the well by someone who was not a fellow Israelite, but who was motivated by concern and compassion

·                     His delivery was helped by the use of material that others had discarded, which was used to provide comfort in his rescue

·                     God seeks to deliver us from the pit of sin and death into which the devil pushes us all; God’s delivery is through faith, truth and love –traits which in many ways are becoming discarded by the world

·                     God will raise us up and set our feet on the solid Rock (Jesus Christ) as we look forward to the New Heavens and New Earth that He has promised

·                     Jesus said, “If a man keep my saying he shall never see death” – we believe it as we hold His promises in our hearts and await His return and the fulfillment of God’s Plan.

Hymn 69 – The Great Redeemer

·                     God reigns as the Creator of all things; He reigns as Controller of this World, and He seeks to reign in the life of each believer

·                     Jesus fulfilled the expectations of Old Testament scholars that  - an authoritative Prophet would arise - Elijah (the Power of God as was manifest in Elijah) would return - The Christ (Messiah) would come

·                     At Christmas we think of Jesus Christ in all these roles – born in humility, crucified in humanity, and to appear in glory – He will Reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords

·                     If we present a sacrifice (gift) of righteousness to God, He has promised to reign in our lives, and we hold the hope to be preserved wholly - in spirit and soul and body – until His return.

Hymn 94 – God Reigns Over All
